Raz could still feel the cool sting of metal against flesh. For a frantic minute she was sure that Talon's intent was to kill her, to burn the very blood from her body. For a minute, Raz felt wholly and utterly afraid, and it was then that she realized how truly alone she was. She trusted no one, not even the man who had saved her life on her journey to Nyk. That man was pressing a knife to her skin.
She wasn't even sure she trusted Nyk, with the easy smile she had known since childhood. Maybe she used to, maybe she had blindly followed his steps into a black world of rogues and rivalries, but the Black Market had twisted her, twisted their friendship into something necessary for suvival. For years, the pair had duked their way to the top of the market's inhabitants, and Raz would never forget that both she and Nyk were thieves at heart.
It was only when Talon drew away and molded himself to the shadows of the doorway that Raz felt she could breathe easy, and even then it was painful. Suspicion was suddenly rampant, and everyone's face seemed to be that of an enemy-- that of an 'Ele.
The tension in the room was broken by a sharp rap at the door, the only warning they got before a blue blur came barreling through the door, smashing sharply into the almost invisible Talon.
"Woah," It said, revealing a very male voice and face. Pale from head to toe, the teen seemed to be drained of color with cool eyes to match his white hair. He righted himself, looked the cloaked warrior up and down, and then shot a jaunty grin at Nyk, "New body gaurd, buddy? He's pretty good at being sneaky, I'm bettin'."
Nyk's whole frame stiffened beside Raz. She could feel the tightening of his muscles. With a frown, she turned her glowering stare to his, "Body gaurd? Nyk, by the gods, you tell me why you'd need a body gaurd right now or I will rip your eyes from the sockets and make you eat them."
If possible, Pale Boy paled further, scooting to hide behind Talon. Nyk was suddenly looking very, very sick, "Um... Raz... Ehehe... Er..."
The Ruik advanced with murder in mind, suddenly sure that she had every right to be suspicious of everyone, of Nyk. She had every right to want to hurt the man she loved like a brother, the only family she had left. If he was going to get himself killed-- for any reason whatsoever-- she had every right to want to stop him because he was the only thing she cared for, even if she didn't trust him as far as she could throw him.
"Now, Raz," He began, hands up, attempting to placate her, "I know I'm sexy, and you want to rip off my clothes and make love and whatnot, but please refrain. I have a guest present. As a matter of fact-" Nyk took the plunge. With speed Raz was sure he didn't possess he swept her up, over her shoulder, and tossed her out onto the gravelly road, "-my guest and I need to speak alone, so take your body gaurd, you hypocrite, and go."
Raz blinked up at him from the dirt, mouth open. Did he- Did he just--?
Someone's gonna die.
